Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (JMET 2009) is the first step in the process of admission to the TWO YEAR FULL TIME Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by IITs for the academic year commencing July/August 2009.

Currently IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee offer Programmes in Management.

JMET 2009 is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. They are also advised to look up the details provided in the brochure about the programmes available in the participating Institutes. There is no limit to the number of programmes a candidate can apply to, so long as he or she meets the eligibility criteria.

The results of JMET 2009 provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection process, like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for such later process of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute.

JMET 2009 qualified candidates may contact the management departments/schools of the concerned institutes for additional information, if any. It may be noted that the GATE/JMET offices will not respond to queries on the admission procedure.

SSC brings out its Examination Schedule each year well in advance and publishes the same in Employment News. Every attempt is made to ensure that the Examination Schedule does not clash with that drawn up by the UPSC.

Similarly, efforts are also made to ensure that the schedule once drawn is strictly adhered to. However if change in the schedule become inevitable it is duly published in the Employment News. All concerned are accordingly advised to go through Employment news also, to find out about any change in the schedule.

JMET 2009 results are valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the results.

* Officer Scale-I : 13 posts (ST-13), Pay Scale : Rs.10000-18240/-, Qualification : A degree from any recognized university in any discipline or its equivalent. (ii) Proficiency in local language i.e. Telugu. (iii) Preference will be given to candidates with computer knowledge
* Clerical Cadre : 26 posts (SC-4, ST-2, OBC-6, UR-14), Pay Scale : Rs.4410-13210/-, Qualification : A degree from any recognized university in any discipline or its equivalent.
OR A pass in Higher Secondary School examination of 10+2+3 pattern/ 11th standard of 11+3 pattern/ Pre-degree or intermediate or any equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ ST) marks in the aggregate. OR Diploma in Banking recognized by State or Central Government or Union Territory. OR Pass with minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Matriculation/Senior school certificate (Old pattern) or equivalent. AND Proficiency in local language (Telugu) is essential. Knowledge of English is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with Computer knowledge.

Age (as on 01/09/2007) : Minimum 18 years - Maximum 26 years for Officers and Clerical Cadre.
