The Recruit : Lady Tigers Sign Top Recruit in Mississippi

Courtney Collins, a five-star recruit out of Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, Miss., signed a NLI with Lee Taylor Walker and the University of Memphis women's tennis program, becoming the first women's tennis signee for the 2009-10 season.

Collins is the No. 1 tennis player in the state of Mississippi and the 26th-ranked player in the Southeast Region per TennisRecruiting.net. She is currently rated as the 72nd-rated recruit in the nation according to the same site. Collins was a highly recruited talent and chose Memphis over Missouri, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Murray State, Tennessee, Louisville, Mississippi State and others.

"Courtney has All-American potential and it's going to be fun to coach her up to that level," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "She is incredibly athletic and competitive and will make a huge impact immediately upon her arrival."
